Finances After Corona

 

I've been thinking. Not much else to do during a three weeks lock-down.

I try to imagine what kind of economic system we'll have when all this upheaval is over. I have to believe that there is a future, it is too blink to think otherwise; but, it does not seem right that what will be is what was. We've come too far, globally. Every country is struggling, people who have unbelievable amounts of funds are supporting mayhem and disasters, and poverty is worse then ever. Getting out of this global disaster needs miracles.

On the personal level, I started to ask questions from people whom I considered knowledgeable in economics. Some are financial advisors, others have a 'knack' for good investments, others study the markets for years. Their answers were similar. The economy in the near future will collapse across the globe and history will repeat itself. As it was after the Soviet Union lost its power and Germany lost the value of its money; our currency will lose its value as well; thus, we can expect the rising of a cashless society and the amount we have now in our savings, will be worth nothing.

We went to the One who has the future in His hands. We don't have enough put-aside to buy real-estate, or stocks, or even gold. So we asked God what should we invest in, so the money we do have will keep its value. How do we protect ourselves from future personal financial collapse.

I heard:

"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'"  This is a reassurance that no matter what happened next, even now in old age, God is looking after us.

Than I heard:

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

We understood it as God saying to put some of our savings where it makes the difference now most; He will refund the value and more as we will need it. There are many places that are helping others in various ways. Helping them help others felt like the right investment for us at this time. We pray that what was given will be multiplied many times over by God, our best supplier, and will bring the help that is needed. Before a cashless society is established, there is much kindness that can go around.
