Hamsin:
East-South wind blowing in the Middle East area; In Israel it usually blows April/May
till October. Origin of the name is in Arabic and means: fifty; Maybe because
it blows for about 50 days in any given year. (Translated to English from
"the new dictionary" by Avraham Even-Shoshan)
It
is the last week of February and up till now it was cold. But this wind, this
hot, east-south wind, reminded us of the Chinook in Calgary, AB Canada that
turns freezing days with temperatures from below zero into real hot ones. We had a heat wave today and all the windows
were open and the breeze just flew through, warming up the cold walls.
53rd
day of Praise
Thank
you God for a hot wind on a cold day; it had been a Shabbat full of warmth.
Looking
forward to spring
Orith
