Television

For the last six years, since we arrived in Israel, we avoided having a television in our house.  A few times people have given to us those devices and we turned them down, returned them, gave them away, and…whatever - still no TV in our home.

Why?  Not really sure; seems it is a useless box that just takes lots of room, time and money and we can do without it.

These past few weeks, I thought that maybe we'll relent and get a TV - to watch the action in Gaza, to be up to date - but did not act on that thought.

I hear comments around me, "I cannot turn it off", "I watch the war non-stop", "they show nothing else, 24/7", so I thought that I can do that on the internet and be done with it. 

Not so. 

Much of the news I am getting are via friends who watch TV now almost 24 hours a day.  I read the papers, but some world news is missing as well.  I had no idea why a plane went down with almost 300 people in it or why Holland had a regal funeral for them.  I just saw the pictures in language I don't know on FB.  I have no idea if there are weather patterns that affect the Americas right now as they usually do in the summer.  I just know that the world continues to live its life and we are busy with soldiers and military actions and prayers.  Maybe I need a television?

If I am so occupied with Protective Edge War in Gaza without TV, how much more will I be busy with it if I had one?  I think we are better without television; the war will be over soon…

206th Day of Praise -

Thank You God for occupying my thoughts and my life and allowing me time to pray for our soldiers instead of watching the war horrors on TV, it seems to me a more positive use of my time.  What do you think God?
