My world is changing.
Living in a small compact country changes
one's view of the world. I find myself
seeing Israel as the center of the universe and the all international
activities as they relate to this little piece of land that is surrounded by
enemies and is in fact, a political island.
I have to remind myself that what people
are experiencing affects them as individuals and direct their decisions
accordingly. I have to remind myself
that policies and political stands are of countries and institutions,
organizations and establishments and are not always what the people in them
think and believe.
The UN was forced to leave Syria today; 30
of them had to be rescued from the Syrian War by the Israeli IDF. Nahariya hospital is often the first stop for
them and then they hit the local restaurants in town. The individuals are always welcomed. But the feelings of the Israelis toward the UN
as an organization are of deep disappointment; The UN policies and overall
sentiments betrayed Israel time and again.
Some of my international friends are
disagreeing with my take on the UN conduct. They often know some individuals
who are serving in the UN in some capacity. Their world view, I think, is wider than mine;
I see Israel first - the world second.
It is not an issue of right or wrong, it
is only an issue of a different worldview.
242nd Day of
Praise -
I thank You God that you had given us
different ways of looking at the world around us; it would have been boring if
we all thought the same. I thank you God that we can trust you to bring Peace
to the region someday.
Thinking things through,
Orith
