SWORDS OF IRON WAR. Day112

Comfort Food
FRIDAY

We were away for 2 days and a night – a friend had to be operated on and we spent the time between the hospital and their home, so we could be with the friend and his wife. He is well, only in pain, which is expected. Thank God.

We had food shelter and a comfortable bed, but I missed home. Home is such a word description of so many things. Comfort, safety, love, belonging...

The cat welcome us back; the wash is being done; phone calls returned; very hot showers; a cheese sandwich and bed. There are 144,000 Israeli refugees in their own land, families had to evacuate their own homes and move to hotels, living units or family or friends in Israel. Some were told today they might need to stay away from home until June. At the same time, soldiers who spent the last three months in Gaza returned to their homes so they could work and study and continue their lives, but were given a new deployment date – May maybe?

So Home became almost a dream, a future focus. A nation that suffered 2,000 years of wandering in foreign lands, and not by choice, is now again dreaming of safe homes – in their own ancient homeland.

Two days ago another old friend died. I saw the notice from her son only a few minutes ago. Judith Nisim who helped me by loving and encouraging me at the start of my time as a single mom, and introduced Yeshua to me and my sons, had joined her husband Eli in heaven, only 2 months and 7 days after his passing. R.I.P.

We need so desperately to know and acknowledge that we have an eternal home, what other hope do we have?

Have you met the Messiah? He is the door to that home.
