Spots of Gold

Micah 4:4  But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.

In 2008, when we moved to Israel, this verse from the prophet Micah  was a beacon to me. I kept hearing it inside me, a promise to come. This week, at the end of 2012, it became a reality - we moved to our own flat.

Praise God for keeping His promises, and thank you all who laboured with us during this time. May God  bless you richly and mightily with His many blessings according to His riches in Glory.

We don’t have a grape vine nor a fig tree but the shade is under a large tree with large leaves – sorry, I have no idea what its name. This shade is a gift for my man, it has a window and electricity attached and he can patter there until his heart content.

The fact that we now own an apartment in Israel, is a miracle. The fact that all of our furniture and belongings are fitting into it, is another miracle.  When we started the process, I referred to the place as a “matchbox”, 64.90 square meters (698.58 square feet) seemed so small. I now call it, “The Embassy”. A positive attitude change is also a miracle.

There are gold spots on the ceiling and gold painted fixtures; our collection of teddy bears situated in various corners, and two of the rooms have wall-to-wall red carpets while the third bedroom is blue. All rather unusual in this environment.  It is the Embassy of God. We welcome our visiting Royalty here and we will be glad to host them with His blessings.

We climb the 64 stairs gladly, knowing that we don’t need a gym membership since we now live on top of one. There is no elevator, so we are getting into shape faster then we anticipated. While most other utilities are connected, the natural gas is yet to come – a good excuse for restaurants hopping. Such joy…

A Royal Visit

Like all housing in Israel, this also needs a bit of renovations or as it is know here “sheeputzim”. Funny word. An expensive one usually. But our little flat is almost all done.  Willie painted the walls and build shelves; we got a specialist to shine, gloss and buff the marble floors and deep-clean the carpets, now all we are waiting for is a new boiler. It should be here by Sunday, so we can have some hot showers in this stormy weather. As soon as the rain stops, Willie will patch up the wall above the blinds so we can remove the buckets from the shelf.  Thank God my hubby had the foresight to make a shelf under the windows.

We are getting to know the neighbours quickly – needing keys for the roof, finding how to turn on lights in the staircase, asking advice on where to place the stove, getting phone numbers of various specialists – it is easy to get to know people. We had substances a few times at the local coffee shop and met a few more locals. The majority of the people originated in Georgia (the country not the state) and Morocco, some came from Romania and some are Israeli born, an interesting mix of cultures.

So on we go with God into the next adventure.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone.

Blessings from a Stormy Weather Israel,

Orith
