Being a parent is tough. Some
people seem to know how to do it. I see around me young women with 7 kids who
got it so together! They look great, they have a work day outside the home,
they are serene and content and friends to their kids. I have no idea how they
do it, I did not parent that well.
I'm told that some kids are easier to parent while others just
"get to you". Maybe… When my
sons were young, I was reminded by one of their teacher, "They that sow
in tears shall reap in joy." (Psalm 126:5). I knew the verse only I was not sure that I'll survive
that long… All I was able to do was to love them no matter what.
I did survive. And surprisingly they turned out very well. The
first-born Skype today; and while he cooked Saturday breakfast for the family,
we chatted. His wife got to sleep in and came down the stairs for coffee while
the teenager at home was trying to think on how to answer these two grandparents
that she might be a touch too young to travel to Israel. We enjoyed them and their
news and the Saturday morning household sounds right across the world.
Eleventh Day, 2014 - Thank You God for being there for me when I needed
wisdom and skills to parent my kids and I had none. Thank you for showing me that at the end of
the day I am a good mom and my children turned out just wonderful.
Happy to be a Mom/Savta
