In Sidney BC, I belonged to
a community centre that had a swimming pool and a gym and all other such
facilities. I swam a lot, hardly ever used the gym and drove there and back
even though it was close enough to walk.
In Nahariya, I signed up
for a country club which had a swimming pool, a gym and all other such facilities.
I swam a little, learned how to use the gym and I walked there and back almost
daily.
Since we moved to this
current location, I stopped the club membership. The cost was one issue, but
more important I felt that no elevator and 64 stairs can be considered a
build-in-house gym.
We've been walking
everywhere. Only when we go out of the city we take the bus, taxi or train. Today,
we had so many errands that we went three times up and down these 64 stairs. We
also walked for three hours to banks, the pharmacy, the food market and the library.
On the long way home, I was
grumbling inside because of the pain in my feet and legs. But then I remembered:
this is my gym, that's how I keep fit, and
that's how I save the big bucks.
26th Day of Thanks - Thank
you God for locating us in Nahariya, on a flat ground and helping us to stay
fit with our long walks.
Tired but still on the go,
Orith
