I.D.F.

In Israel everyone is in service. We are not under military rule, but everyone is involved somehow in the Israeli Defense Forces - I.D.F.  It is not explainable.

There is a unity of mind regarding the role of the military. There is a unity of experience because the majority of the secular Jews had served in the army or air force or navy for at least three generation and everyone understand the military stand. Many are reserves who still serve yearly and are called when troubles are brewing.

With the Yellow Alert last week, citizens were on alert around us and each explained the situation as he/she experienced it in years past. We just soaked it in, learning to live with this unknown pressure, but today the news clarified a thing or two.

The Israeli PM, Mr. B. Netanyahu, is in the United States. He spoke on Sunday, quoted scriptures from the Bible, and we are told that if he run that day to the presidency he would have won.  While he was busy with his speech, he also acted as Commander In Chief and via two other high officers had directed the Israeli Navy to capture a ship from Iran carrying long range missiles who could have eliminated a few million people in 200 km range between Gaza and Iraq.  The ship was heading to Gaza as supplies, but Israel got those missiles now - courtesy of Iran who denies that it was their merchandise although the stamps on the missiles clearly "Iran made".

As the World continues to deny the Iran threat, the Israeli Army was busy on the Syrian border answering some fire with fire. Nahariya residences again were exposed to the sonic booms of the fast F-15 and the sounds of the navy-war-ship at the bay. Netanyahu meanwhile, took his wife and son to star in an Israeli tourism movie; completely safe and secure in knowing that the I.D.F. had done excellent job of protecting the country.

65rd Day of Praise -

Thank you God for the IDF; for each young person who serves proudly for 3 years and for many years in the reserve after regular service is over; we thank you Father in heaven for protecting them from harm and returning them healthy and well to their families hands.
