Friday, Shabbat is on the threshold again, end of a week.
A few weeks back a friend arrived in Israel from Texas on a tour. We tried our best to connect with each other;
I did not see her for at least 15 years. We emailed and phoned but were not
able to meet in person no matter how far each of us bended to get to that
point.
Another friend is arriving this afternoon from Victoria BC; I would love
to meet her in person, but she is travelling with a tour group. Since it is
Friday, there is no public transportation back to our town after 4pm; she is
arriving at 3:15pm. Even if her group
tours the area close to us, she will not be able to leave the group nor would I
be able to enter into her schedule. We
might phone or email, but I know that I will not be able to see her in person.
It is good that there are tour groups that visit Israel. I am so glad to
hear of everyone who comes to experience this unusual place for themselves. I
only wish that they will get one day off schedule that is not a Shabbat so we
can meet. Our family and friends abroad are dear to us; a day to spend with
them is a true gift.
66th Day of Thanks -
I thank you God for making connections between people and for bringing
family and friends to Israel to enjoy this great place together.
Dreaming of my loved ones,
Orith
