Ripe Bananas

Today is the 151st day of my writing the daily thanks to God; not the 148th that I thought it was.  I noticed, just now, that somewhere during the passing of the days, I missed 3 days.

I should have checked my bananas tray.

You see, the bananas that grow here are one of the sweetest fruits around.  They are even sweeter then grapes or nectarines and almost as sweet as the local dates.  When you place them on a tray in a cool place, you need to keep an eye on them.  They are to be eaten in less than a week, even when they are bought almost green; they just ripe in this heat.

Watching the bananas would have alerted me that another day had passed, but I did not pay attention.  Willie just brought to me a piece of banana so it will be eaten and not overripe; it is than when I realized that the fruit was ripe and I missed writing a day of thanks.

151st day of Thanks -
I thank you God for the bananas that are sweet and ripe and help us to count the days passing by. I thank God that the days pass so quickly that I let them pass by without noticing the time.

Glad that my life is so full and there are lots to be thankful for …even when I don't write about it,

Orith
