I was given a lesson today that I never would not have expected,
ever…
A friend told me that her toilet get plugged when paper is thrown
in. So I made a little sign for her to
hang inside her door, in English and in Hebrew asking her guests to avoid such
action.
Before I gave her the sign, I showed it to one of my office buddies
and suggested that maybe the Landlord can fix the problem…that's when my lesson
begun.
"Never, ever, ever, one is allowed to throw paper into the
toilet bowl! What do you think the bucket beside the toilet is for? Did you ever notice that it has papers in it?
Don't you know anything?"
I was so shocked; I just stared at her …duh…
Not all plumbing in Israel is that old or that bad. I've never seen such thing. But my office
buddy is from Old Russia and I lived most of my life in Canada… Plumbing is not
the same everywhere…
I did laugh when I was over the shock and after she left the room. The do's and don'ts of different countries can
be funny when they clash over the little things.
328th Day of Praise -
I thank you God for the little clashes between the different
cultures that I experience each day. It
keeps me on my toes and my life interesting.
Chuckling,
Orith
