Old Age

Still a Baby
I've been thinking…

Except for Abraham, who was the father of the Faith, no one in the Bible ever complained, or thought to use as an excuse, his age.  At least, the only place that I could find was in Genesis17:17 "Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old?  And shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?"

I guess that at 100 years of age, it is ok to doubt that one is going to have a child.  But otherwise, no one else used age as an excuse for avoiding an action, or following a command, or refusing to believe.  Even Moses, at 80 years of age, whined only that he was a stutterer.

Today, I hear many people around me explaining many of their actions or the lack thereof, by referring to their old age.  Every health complaint, every change in interest, everything they forget or wish they had forgotten is being blamed on their aging process.  I met a few in their late 90th, two or three over a 100, but the complainers are the young seniors, in their 60th.

I've been thinking that I, too, am joining their ranks and it is time that I will take the example of the Biblical characters who had children, or rode camels, or follow dreams or helped to build cities-  never referring to their age as an excuse or a reason to stop whatever was needed to be done.

Heck, I am not even in my 70th yet…

349th Day of Praise -
I thank God that He had given me a long, long time to live, and for all I know my dreams and visions and hopes will still come to pass in my lifetime. I thank you God for a long, productive life.

Determined to live happily ever after…

Totally agree I too. Hope to not be using age as an excuse not to live as God wants me to!
