THE JOURNEY - Day 23

MONDAY – Day 17 in Iron Swords War.

23.10.23

Sanity... Seems we need to keep our heads working and not allow the mayhem around us to touch our inward being. Not sure if that sentence makes sense to anyone, but I know what I mean...

So I keep doing things that are daily routine hoping that it will keep me centered. Making the bed; washing the face; making and drinking protein shake; taking medications and vitamins; stretching; patting the cat; reading the bible, and cleaning the house.

We were called to return to our posts as volunteers. Condition: work close to the safe rooms. I went downtown and the unit supervisor made sure I worked in the safe room. She was breathing easier when I agreed. Turned out I worked in one of the doctor's offices, around the corner from the safe room and it was a great room to work in.

In the hospital, Willie was shown the safe area right across the aisle from his office space. Our supervisors go out of their way to keep us safe and comfortable.

The local city hall is making sure we are also safe in our homes. They updated 366 safe rooms in the city, all in 30-50 years old buildings so the old residents can have light water and air when they walk down 80 or so stairs; and, when they get there they can stay for as long as the shelter is needed between sirens.

While settlements north of us, about 7 km from Lebanon had to evacuate their homes, we, at 9.6 km from the border, stayed.

Last night IDF burned something on the other side of the border, so the smoke filled our apartment. We closed all the north side windows and blinds, but it lingered till the morning. Hard to breathe – took antihistamine, drank lots of water and went to catch the early bus. When we returned home, all was clear.

God placed us where we are being looked after. Again, a secured room in Haifa was offered for us to move into for the duration of the war. We are so thankful for all the care and love we receive from every direction.

What a great love the Father bestows on us daily!

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! (1John 3:1)
