We just returned from downtown where we shopped for produce. The less than 20 shekel spree we bought yielded 2 big salads which included all food groups and will last the two of us at least 3 days.
It is doable.
Over time, I learned that no matter how small is my food budget, I know how to feed the family in a healthy way and without any debts. I've done that for years. It's my knack...I did it again today.
Like all abilities or knacks, this too is a gift from God. I've been thinking today that God always gets us out of trouble and is very capable of sustaining us. I figure that He must have a reason to do that.
Two bible stories came to mind. One was the time Israel was getting its freedom from Egypt and the other was when Elijah was fed special food and regained his strength. In both cases, there was a purpose behind the sustaining. Israel embarked on a journey to the desert and freedom; Elijah was commissioned to go forty days and nights to Mount Horeb, the mountain of God. There are other examples when people were strengthened by God – all for the same reason –
to WALK FORWARD in His service. Each time He sustains us, we are told to be ready, prepare for a long journey and labour for Him. He refreshed our bodies and souls, we are renewed by His Glory.
I am learning to notice His favours, to receive His grace and to follow His purpose.
