SATURDAY - Day 36 of the war 11.11.2023
Shabbat.
Explosive sounds reached me at 01:48. They sounded as if they were coming from the West – the Mediterranean Sea. We did get a notice during the day yesterday that the navy will exercise. I prayed for the sailors, and checked my phone – a friend posted that a soldier came from Gaza directly to the operating table where both his legs were amputated above the knees. He and his family needed urgent prayers. Another friend wrote a list of the fallen soldiers that day with a note that one of his family members was among them. I continued to pray.
By 07:00 explosions erupted from the Lebanon Border with a note from our city hall, “IDF returning fire. If the sirens sound, go to the safe room”. It is now 10:30 and the occasional sounds still reach us. No Sirens.
Today is the 11-Month 11-day 11-hour – Canadian Remembrance Day. Ernst Cunningham, Willie's father served in WW2 in Europe with the Canadians, and freed prisoners of the Nazis. He never wanted to talk about it. But he proudly marched with his army friends on Remembrance Day and kept in touch with those who survived until he died at 96 years of age. Jo Cunningham, Willie's mother was a member of the Partisans in Holland and as a 15 year old delivered information on her bicycle for the entire time of the war. Her father hid Jews on his farms and was imprisoned for his activities. I praised God for knowing that family. Today, they are in my thoughts and the Memorial Candle that I lit each Friday night for the ones who lost their lives in the current war, is lit today for them as well. Two world wars, a holocaust and a 17th war or conflict raging today in Israel... It feels as if I need to light a memorial candle continually.
Today, I noticed another side of the story that did not penetrate my thoughts before.
We were sold out. Somebody sold out Israel.
There are usually 200 soldiers patrolling the fence with Gaza. Why on the last day of the holidays, on October 7, 2023, there were only 20?
Egypt announced a few times after the massacre that it notified Israel of an attack planned by the Hamas in Gaza. Why was it not dealt with before the attack?
Female soldiers who serve in the area, sent warning notes a few times to the higher-ups. Why were they un-noticed and un-dealt with?
A video was posted by a mother and three children who were witnesses to the murder of her husband. She said, “They came from Gaza, killed, drank a large bottle of Cola, and returned to Gaza. No one stopping them! We were sold out! Someone arranged it.
The government of Israel is demanding an explanation from News Services about pictures that were taken before, during and after the terrors. How did the photographers know to be there? They must have had prior knowledge. The Israeli government is saying that for them to know the atrocities before they take place, not to alert anyone and to take pictures, then they must be members of the terrorist group and should be judged as war criminals. Some of the News Agencies responded by stopping their freelance associations with the photographers, others did not. But this was also – a prior knowledge.
Why the ones who were supposed to alert the PM would not wake him up?
That list is by no means complete. But the notion that Israel was sold out and its innocent citizens were taken as a lamb to the slaughter, is spreading on this 36th day of the Swords of Iron War.
The feeling of safety is eroding. Our young army which is made up of our 18-20 years old sons and daughters, is not being backed up by the politicians as it should. While the nation as a whole loves and supports the soldiers, some are not so sure that it is supported completely by the government as well.
Is this an act of globalists? Only God knows for sure.
We can only trust fully in God Himself.
