THE SECOND LIGHT OF CHANUKAH

It was such a beautiful day today! We took our jackets off within an hour of our shopping. 

Margalit came with us. She'll be 9 years old tomorrow and the outing was our birthday gift to her. We went to her big brother's bar-mitzvah a few months back, and she is second in line out of the nine siblings.

We had fun. It's been a long time since we spent a whole morning with a child. We took her to our regular shops buying food and checking out the city. We bought some Chanuka gifts for her sibling and a special one just for her.

Chanuka is the light that chases the dark. 

The war only extenuates the fact that the darkness around us is not inside us. A menorah was lit in Gaza last night and will be through the next eight days. It lights over the darkness, more so during this war. The reaction of giving by the entire nation to each other and helping where it is needed creates such a large light everywhere that even our small one adds to it and increases the light and happiness in us.

Thank God we had such an opportunity to give.

When we arrived home, we went upstairs with gifts and a “Happy Holidays” wish to our neighbour and soon some young visitors came with gifts for us: Donuts, of course, and a beautiful bouquet of yellow chrysanthemum. They did not get to play with the cat, but there was more light all around anyway.

When we lit the Chanukia, being Friday, we also lit the Shabbat candles, as well as, the memorial candle for the fallen.

We need as much light as we can get to brighten our hearts. 

For the Light Chases Away the Darkness.
