Roads by the Northern border were closed yesterday. I don't know which ones since we don't have a vehicle and drive only when we rent a car. The last time that I recall renting a car was at the end of the Covid. We use public transportation as a rule.Other roads that are on the way to closure do concern me. These are the roads that were opened to national unity since the terror attack on October 7. The unity of the nation is threatened.
Major issues have risen in the last few weeks.
One is the Hotels' issues. The evacuees were told that they could return to their homes on the south and north borders. They have been living in hotels and other venues while the government paid for their accommodations and support. They can return as early as March and are to complete that move by July. They are being compensated for their losses as well. Not everyone wants to return. Many feel unsafe. On the other hand, the hotels request that the families leave by Passover April 22, 2024, since many are booked for the holidays years in advance. The hotels need to clean up and renovate for their guests as well. Where would they go if they don't return to their homes on the borders?
The second issue is the families of the hostages. This group who pressured the government to free the hostages at any price and as soon as possible, became militant and seemed to move in the direction of a new political party. A small group, of families as well, had moved away from them. There are 134 hostages left in the hands of Hamas in Gaza, and 31 of them are bodies. Their identity is not known. These families are saying that they do not want to insist on the IDF soldiers going in to save the hostages and possibly die in the attempt. They don't feel that they can continue to expect the parents of the soldiers to give their sons and daughters up for saving who might be dead bodies. The anger between them seems to escalate to hate and street fights.
A third issue was the supplies issues. While humanitarian supplies are coming into Gaza, the hostages live on 1 pita a day, no medical supplies nor medical care, and little air, in damp tunnels, in cages. The terrorist prisoners in Israel get full medical support, three meals a day with beef and fish and full comfort. Some in the government and many of the hostages' families are demanding that the supply stop at the Egyptian gate and food be reduced in the Israeli prisons. The disagreements are among the governmental discussions and the prison guards as well.
There are other issues but these were in the forefront in the last little while. These issues are splitting the nation and the wonderful unity that was apparent in the last 4 months is eroding.
Spiritual issues are open doors to satan. Our God is stronger but more prayers are needed. Groups that travel south to the areas attacked by the terrorists, need to go with the spirit of repentance and talk about Yeshua aggressively, praying in tongues without ceasing. It is essential. We need to pray for the nation to unite and not split again, we will not survive a civil war.
